Scenario

The cell must load and unload sets of left-hand and right-hand parts through CNC machines and other operations. In-cell operations include part marking and feature presence checks.

Solution

3 cells each consisting of 2 robots tending 5 machines

Part Flow

• Raw parts are loaded by an operator into fixtured drawers capable of 45 minutes of continuous run time between loads
• Parts are loaded and unloaded from machines in pairs
• Feature presence and thread presence of a dozen features per part are verified on every part with a multi-camera system
• Parts exit on a conveyor

Outcome

This system produces parts for a precision machine shop as a tier 1 supplier to the automotive industry. 15 machines are being run by 2 operators 3 shifts per day.
